I want to: Add a design flare and light to my dinning room. Will a custom mirror do the trick?
It's Q&A time again!
One of our customer asked "How can I add a design flare and make my dinning room brighter and larger?"
We looked no further than Houzz.com for a reference article and our past experience in custom framing mirrors. The solution? Similar to the following Houzz image, we framed a large horizontal mirror in a wonderful contemporary black and silver moulding that worked perfectly with the decor and accent colors. We brought in a 1.5" beveled mirror with an overall size of 72" horizontal by 36" vertical.
The mirror was a hit and exceeded our clients expectations.
Installation was a snap and her dinning room was brighter, "wider" and the contemporary design of the custom mirror was just the thing for her room and decor.
Want more inspiration? Erika Ward, Owner and Principal Designer of Erika Ward Interiors has a great article at Houzz found here: Small-Space Secret: A Great Big Mirror
We have to agree with her article:
"Mirrors in home decor, especially oversized mirrors, are assets when positioned to accentuate your home's best features. Framed or unframed, mounted or free-standing, mirrors are hardworking and can double your decorating dollar. You may live in only 500 square feet, but the right mirror can make it appear much larger."
"When placed in a dark room, an oversized mirror eagerly exposes any bit of light and radiates it throughout the entire room."
