Gertrude Kearns: An unconventional artist for an unconventional mission.
Gertrude Kearns spent nearly five weeks in Kandahar and Kabul, Afghanistan in 2005-06 embedded with Canadian Task Force Afghanistan Roto 0. There she ultimately produce six canvases and captured insight and imagery for her 2015 exhibition of over 46 works at Fort York Visitor Centre, Toronto entitled, The Art of Command. High Desert Frameworks has the honor of printing and custom framing a fine art print by Kearns for one of her local collectors. The client, a recent transplant to Central Oregon and trauma surgeon, met Kearns at Kandahar Air Force base in 2006. He was captivated by her work and now 10 years later is settling into the high desert life and ready for that special piece in the home office.
